NORCAL ROGUES AYF Tackle Football Program

WELCOME TO THE NORTH!

NorCal Rogues is an American Youth Football sanctioned tackle football program focused on developing disciplined, confident athletes through safe, structured football instruction.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The NorCal Rogues provide full tackle football instruction for athletes ages 5–14 under American Youth Football rules. Our program emphasizes player safety, certified coaching, proper equipment, and age appropriate development at every level.

We are committed to building strong fundamentals, character, and football IQ while creating a positive environment for athletes and families.

8U Tackle Football (Ages 7–8)
10U Tackle Football (Ages 9–10)
12U Tackle Football (Ages 11–12)
14U Tackle Football (Ages 13–14)

Age eligibility is determined by AYF cutoff rules. Players must not exceed the maximum age prior to July 1st, 2026.

Player/Cheer Registration Includes:

• Official AYF league registration and insurance
• Game uniforms

• Certified coaching and structured tackle football instruction
• Practice and game field access

 


COACH REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

All Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches must complete the following:

• Coaching Youth Football the AYF Way – 3rd Edition
OR
Human Kinetics certification with AYF/AYC Recertification
• FREE NFHS Football Tackling Course
• At least one coach per staff with First Aid and CPR certification

All certifications must be completed before participation.

President / Treasurer

Darnell Ewing aka “Coach E”
Darnell is a former multi sport athlete and youth mentor who leads the organization with a focus on discipline, accountability, and fundamentals. With a background in audio engineering and multimedia production, he brings structure, communication, and consistency to program leadership. He is deeply committed to character development and mental health advocacy for youth athletes on and off the field.

Vice President / Secretary

Tia Ewing aka “Coach T”
Tia is a former multi sport athlete, youth coach, and Mental Health and Behavioral Analyst who serves as a strong advocate for youth well being. She leads speed, conditioning, and life skills development with an emphasis on emotional regulation, confidence, and personal responsibility. Her work centers on supporting the mental and emotional growth of young athletes alongside athletic fundamentals.

Director of Player Development & Pathways

Dominique Cole aka Coach Dom
Dominique is a former JUCO transfer and NAIA college football player with extensive experience as a high school varsity coach and youth mentor. He holds NASM certification and is the current Head Football Coach at Harker High School in San Jose, as well as a former Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Menlo High School. His approach prioritizes fundamentals, mental health awareness, and long term development for student athletes.

Board Member

Coach Mike Piha
Coach Piha is a Hall of Fame AYF youth football coach with over 25 years of experience developing young athletes through safe, fundamentals based instruction. He is the Founder and President of the Palo Alto Knights and the Founder of the NorCal American Youth Football League, leading multiple programs to national competition and long term sustainability. His coaching career spans Portland, Oregon and Palo Alto, California, where he led nine teams to Pop Warner and AYF National Championships in Orlando, Florida, and was inducted into the American Youth Football Hall of Fame in 2010.

Beyond coaching, Coach Piha is an accomplished entrepreneur with leadership experience in both start up and high growth companies. He is the Founder and former CEO of In2Change, a Silicon Valley based office furniture and technology distributor recognized as one of the region’s fastest growing companies, with annual revenues exceeding $40 million. He is currently the CEO and Co Founder of HitCheck, a sport and health technology company that developed the first mobile app designed to assess concussion symptoms for athletes, active consumers, and military personnel. His leadership emphasizes player safety, mental health awareness, and sustainable program structure at every level of youth sports.
